Receive approval that your DER system can be safely energised and operated in parallel with the network.
An HV submission may be required to meet the Technical Rules. This process is separate from this application, but may affect assessment and approval time frames. More information:Â HV submission guidelines.Â
A Technical Compliance Report (TCR) is only required where the total aggregate inverter capacity at the network connection point exceeds 200 kVA. For systems with an aggregate capacity of 200 kVA or below, a TCR is not required as part of this process. Where required, the TCR is a separate process from this application and must be submitted to the Technical Rules team. More information is available in the Technical Compliance Report guidelines.
A final NERâcertified Technical Compliance Report must be submitted before you can lodge a Request to Operate.
When a customer proposes to add or modify distributed energy resources (DER), they must first contact their electricity retailer to discuss the change. Based on this request, the electricity retailer is responsible for submitting the required notification to Western Power to update the siteâs network access arrangements. This notification is completed by the electricity retailer (not the applicant) and is required before Approval to Operate can be issued.
The customer must contact their electricity retailer to initiate this step. Approval to Operate cannot be requested until the electricity retailer has submitted the required network access notification to Western Power.
