The launch of the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) roadmap marks an exciting new phase for energy in WA and one that we are proud to be a part of!

It heralds a dynamic new phase in WA’s energy sector and highlights the significant role distributed energy resources (DER) such as rooftop solar panelsbatterieselectric vehicles and microgrids have in the evolution of our network.

We’ve been trialling and integrating distributed energy resources into the network for a while now from community batteries such as PowerBankelectric vehicles and microgrids to managing the uptake of solar. Our customers alone have installed around 270,000 rooftops solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

And we want to ensure Western Australians can continue to install and enjoy the benefits of rooftop solar and new energy technologies.

This is all part of our drive to provide greater customer choice and meet the changing energy needs of our community. We’re embracing change and using and developing new technology to do this.

The roadmap helps us support high levels of DER on the network ensuring safe, secure and affordable electricity supply now and in the future. It is part of our plan to future-proof the network so that we can continue to seamlessly connect homes, businesses and essential community infrastructure to an increasingly dynamic energy mix.

The roadmap is a five-year plan that we are proud to be a part of! Find out more at brighterenergyfuture.wa.gov.au
