Make a request or manage your preferences related to property access, freedom of information and managing your energy data.
Western Power collects personal information through portals listed on its Requests & Preferences page (including information requests, access applications, registrations, service requests and preference updates) to respond to your request and manage your interaction with us.
This includes, for example, where you submit:
- Information requests, including requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (WA)
- Property access enquiries relating to inspection and maintenance of network assets
- Registration or consent for access to energy data, including third party access requests
- Requests relating to artwork on Western Power assets or community battery artwork initiatives
- Safety-related requests, such as safety packs or aerial visual cover (tiger tail) installations
- Oversize load applications
- Applications to work near transmission and communication assets
- Pre application enquiries for connections or related services
What we collect
We may collect:
- Your name and contact details (such as email address, telephone number and address)
- Details relevant to your request (such as property, site, meter or connection information)
- Information required to verify identity, authority or consent (including where acting on behalf of another person)
- Information relating to your organisation or business (where applicable)
- Details of your request, application or enquiry
- Supporting information or documentation you provide
- Records of your interactions and correspondence with us
Western Power collects this information directly from you when you submit a request, application, registration or enquiry through this page.
Why we collect your information
We collect, use and handle your personal information to:
- Assess and respond to your request, application or enquiry
- Process and manage access to information, including under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (WA)
- Verify identity, authority and consent, including for third party access to energy data
- Manage property access, safety, asset protection and network-related activities
- Support applications relating to working near infrastructure, oversize loads or network safety requirements
- Manage community and stakeholder initiatives, including artwork programs and engagement activities
- Communicate with you, including requesting further information and providing updates
- Maintain records of requests, decisions and interactions

- Meet our legal, regulatory and governance obligations
How we may use and share your information
Western Power may use and disclose your personal information:
- Internally, to relevant business areas responsible for managing your request or application
- To contractors, service providers and technical specialists supporting service delivery, asset management, safety or network operations
- To third parties where required to process your request (for example, where verifying consent or facilitating access to data)
- To government agencies, regulators or oversight bodies (including for FOI requests) where required or authorised by law
We only share personal information where it is necessary for these purposes and in accordance with applicable laws.
Consent and third-party information
Where you provide information on behalf of another individual (for example, to access energy data), you must ensure you are authorised to do so and that appropriate consent has been obtained.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

If you choose to provide sensitive personal information as part of your request, you consent to its collection, use and disclosure in accordance with this notice and Western Power’s Privacy Policy.
