A $1.4 million package of works to enhance network resilience for the benefit of homes and businesses in the Shire of Quairading is now complete.
The upgrade included the replacement of 55 poles and over 2km of overhead powerlines, upgrading insulators, installing new LED streetlights and other essential maintenance.
Western Power Executive Manager of Asset Operations Zane Christmas said the work, which began in May, would enhance network resilience against increasingly frequent weather events including storm and bushfire
“We have reinforced network infrastructure in Quairading upgrading equipment and improving the capacity of our assets,” Mr Christmas said.
“Some sections of overhead wires were replaced with covered Aerial Bundle Cable (ABC) which provides a longer service life and helps reduce clashing risk which is mitigation against bushfire,” he said.
“Some planned power outages were necessary to complete the upgrades safely, and we thank the
Quairading community for their patience, and the Shire for working with us to achieve these upgrades.
“These works are part of our annual $1 billion comprehensive network maintenance program to improve network resilience and manage safety, reliability and environmental risks.”
