The Cook Government is supporting hundreds of bushfire volunteers with $70,000 in grants provided by Western Power.
Volunteers from 43 brigades protecting regions from the Mid West to Ravensthorpe and Perth to the Wheatbelt received the funding through Western Power's annual Bushfire Volunteers Grants Program.
The brigades operate within the area covered by the State's main electricity grid, the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).
The grants recognise the critical role volunteer bushfire brigades play in protecting communities and the environment.
Brigades use the money to buy equipment and fund training to improve their firefighting skills.
The Bunbury Volunteer Bushfire Brigade is one of the 43 brigades to benefit from the grant, sending cadets to the Australian Fire Cadet Championships in New South Wales.
Western Power has awarded over $800,000 in funding to volunteer bushfire brigades under the program.
The program is administered by the Western Power, with support from Bushfire Volunteers.
