Western Power is continuing to support Western Australian volunteer bushfire brigades through its Bushfire Volunteers grants program that has now opened for 2025.
The grant program provides successful brigades within the Western Power network service area funding towards operations and firefighting capabilities that support volunteer firefighters to protect lives, homes and businesses from the devasting impacts of bushfires.
Western Power Executive Manager for Legal, Governance and External Relations Andrew Cook said Western Power is proud to give back to volunteer groups who play such a vital role in the community.
“This funding will assist volunteer bushfire brigades in purchasing additional equipment such as vehicle recovery equipment, first aid kits, generators and additional training courses supporting their ability to safely and effectively carry out firefighting activities,” Mr Cook said.
“Since its inception in 2010, the grants program has delivered around $750,000 in funding to volunteer bushfire brigades located throughout the South West Interconnected System.”
“These grants are a part of our commitment to making a positive difference to local communities by supporting and recognising the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to protect the community,” Mr Cook said.
“I’d like to thank the Bushfire Volunteers Association who continue to support and advocate for volunteer bushfire brigades across WA and who collaborate with us to administer these grants each year.”
Applications are now open and will close on Monday 1 September 2025.
