Environmental management
We have a Statewide Clearing Permit (CPS 1918) that is used to manage the network. This includes works to meet the needs of the community by building, maintaining and operating an electricity network across the South West Interconnected Network. The following projects are open for public submissions due to their potential environmental impact.
Projects open for submission
We're upgrading the Kondinin Substation in order to meet the required energy supply for Synergy’s King Rocks Windfarm. As part of this upgrade a new transformer is required on the west side of the substation. The proposed clearing of up to 0.18 ha of native vegetation is required for crane access and bushfire protection for the new transformer.
Closing date for submissions: 11/12/25
Supporting information
Western Power is proposing a new overhead 330kV transmission line between Northern Terminal and Neerabup Terminal to increase the flow of electricity between Perth and the Mid West region. The proposal is located approximately 13 km north of Perth in the City of Swan and City of Wanneroo. This will enable the connection of more wind and solar generation, and strengthen the backbone of the network to support a cleaner and more reliable energy system for our community.
We've prepared an Environmental review document in accordance with EPA procedures, and it is now released for public review. This document describes the proposal, the likely environmental impacts, and proposed management measures.
Copies of the Northern Terminal to Neerabup Terminal 330kV Transmission Line proposal can be downloaded from the Environmental Protection Authority Western Australia (EPA).
Copies will also be available for examination at:
- Ballajura Public Library
- Wanneroo Public Library
- State Library of Western Australia.
We invite you to have your say by submitting comments or queries by 22 December 2025 to the Environmental Protection Authority Western Australia (EPA). If you have any questions on how to make a submission, please contact EPA Services, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, on (08) 6364 7000.
