Substation Operations Technician
As a Substation Operations Technician, you will be the first and lead responder to all Network Primary Plant faults. You will be required to coordinate all onsite resources in line with the Plant Failure Attendance, Investigation and Return to Service Process. This position is based at either Picton Depot or South Metro Depot at Forrestdale, please indicate your preference depot within your application.
Your Role in Action
- To deliver network switching services and project/program outage organisation to customers both within and external to Western Power to allow construction and maintenance of the network infrastructure and commissioning of new plant in line with safety and design standards.
- To prepare, coordinate and execute complex switching programs and provide technical support, specialist advice and training on Switching Operations and network access matters
- Take personal accountability for safety in the work environment and ensure safe work practises are followed and a safe work environment maintained.
- Responsible for managing complex outages that affect a large and critical customers that can be the subject of AEMO scrutiny
- Ensure feedback to stakeholders to keep them informed particularly if job not going to plan where appropriate.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Possess Cert III (ESI Distribution / Transmission Overhead / Power Systems Distribution Cable Jointing) and/or Electrical Trade Certificate, and/or Current WA Electrical Workers License endorsed for Electrical Fitting.
- All Western Power Switching Levels including Level 0(eNAR), LOU, HOU, ZS, TL, TS.
- Secondary Access Authorisation
- A minimum of 10 + years extensive technical experience within a particular discipline, preferably in the Networks business. Hold all appropriate industry licences or certificates of competency in accordance with the Energy Safety Act 2006.
- Hold all appropriate industry licences or certificates of competency especially substation inspection, testing, maintenance and repair
- Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
