Senior Transmission Substation Scheduler -  (12 mth max term) - South Metro Depot

 

The purpose of this position is to manage, schedule and coordinate complex transmission work with relevant stakeholders within Western Power. This will be achieved through ensuring network outages are coordinated and optimised and in-depth technical review of scope of works are performed within various substation and lines programs across both projects and maintenance work streams to optimise network outages.

 

The position will also provide a focal point and subject matter expertise in the managing and coordinating of, among others, the detailed day to day staging with all relevant stakeholders, direct liaison with the Operations, Planning, Network Operations, Account Managers and Project Management teams to identify dependencies, secure outages and ensure scope of work provided within the workplan is deliverable, with all technical risks identified and/or mitigated.

 

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. This opportunity will initially start on a 12-month max term contract.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate complex transmission schedules in accordance with the agreed outage.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules on complex projects for asset construction, expansion, and replacement within substations and transmission lines portfolio.
  • Create and optimize maintenance schedules for substations and transmission lines to minimize downtime, optimise operational network access permit and mobilisation efficiency.
  • Coordinate with maintenance operational teams to ensure timely execution of scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Analyses resource availability and allocate multi-disciplines crew and materials to projects and maintenance activities effectively.
  • Identify potential resource conflicts and develop mitigation strategies for optimal project and maintenance deliverable.
  • Technically lead and coordinate team members to ensure that work is scheduled as per the outage plans and provide mentoring to the team for technical queries.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the scheduling function and implement best practices.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Construction Management, Project Management, or relevant discipline with extensive experience.
  • Extensive scheduling skills and experience with a minimum combined 8+ years onsite management, scheduling planning, and project management, preferably with Transmission electrical related work or equivalent.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Transmission Network assets and work practices.
  • Excellent analytical, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Interaction with others is primarily concerned with influencing, developing, and motivating people and changing behaviour.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Capable of interacting with managers and stakeholders of all levels in a professional manner.
  • Sound understanding of resource planning across multiple disciplines, including;Primary and Secondary electrical construction, commissioning, and maintenance or Civil / Structural construction
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite, Primavera P6 and MS Project and other network operations systems as required is essential.
