Senior Technical Planning Analyst – Permanent Full Time / South Metro Depot
We’re seeking a proactive and technically skilled professional to manage and coordinate complex transmission substation and lines projects across Capacity Expansion and Volumetric Maintenance programs. In this dynamic role, you’ll optimise network outages, perform technical reviews, and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely delivery of the transmission works program. Your expertise will help shape the two-year look-ahead plan, identify risks, and drive performance across the South West Interconnected Network.
This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. Your Role in Action
- Accountable for planning critical activities associated with the development of a combined transmission outage plan that optimises all customer opportunities while minimising outage clashes and the overall number of outages at circuit level.
- Optimise multiple proposed Transmission works plans into a combine working document that incorporates all aspects of Transmission work
- Develop a combined maintenance and construction outage plan for 12-24 months.
- The outage planning activities to take into consideration, Customer outages, Capacity Expansion works, Asset Replacement, Maintenance including Internal and External poles and conductor streams.
- Lead coordination activities with internal stakeholders on combined Projects and Maintenance outages to ensure work plan is communicated and deliverable.
- Review and approve project estimates, produce deliverable work breakdown structure, plan, and coordinate project staging, and ensure all dependencies are identified.
- Cross reference technical scopes of work between the relevant work program(s) and discipline(s) to identify obsolete scope, network clashes and/or outage optimisation opportunities.
- Manage the volumetric outage plan, lead, and coordinate complex staging and delivery of high-risk transmission work.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure that the transmission work plans are up-to-date and deliverable.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate work program/network risks, by direct liaison with all relevant stakeholders across Western Power, as well as external major customers.
- Provide guidance and technical support to workstream’s to ensure Works Program is deliverable.
- Perform site visits as and when required.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary Qualifications in Construction Management, Project Management, or relevant discipline
- Substation Entry Level A
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in planning/running and or coordinating complex work programs
- Minimum combined 8+ years onsite management and project management experience, preferably with Transmission Substation electrical work involving major network outages
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Transmission Network assets and work practices
- Ability to interpret Substation Civil and Electrical Drawings
- Excellent analytical, prioritisation and problem-solving skills
- Interaction with others is primarily concerned with influencing, developing, and motivating people and changing behaviour.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Capable of interacting with managers and stakeholders of all levels in a professional manner
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office suite, Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
Sound understanding of resource planning across multiple discipline i.e;
- Primary and Secondary electrical construction, commissioning, and maintenance
- DC System
- SCADA system
- Civil / Structural construction
