Senior Substation Draftsperson – Perth CBD – Permanent Full Time
Shape the future of Western Power’s Major Customer decarbonisation projects by joining our Engineering & Design team as a Senior Substation Draftsperson.
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of designing the next generation of transmission and distribution infrastructure, delivering high-quality engineering design, drafting, estimating and consulting services for substations. You’ll apply your technical knowledge, experience and skills to complete detailed design work independently, while ensuring outcomes are safe, reliable, efficient and commercially sound.
Your Role in Action
- Deliver design & drafting services for the development of Transmission Substations.
- Responsible for drafting outputs in a multidisciplinary environment, supporting assigned substation projects.
- Apply technical skills, knowledge and experience to meet relevant standards, performance requirements and contingencies.
- Provide technical leadership relating to aspects such as drafting software and drawing management, the compilation and continuous updating of drafting standards/ templates.
- Guide and support other draftspersons by facilitating open communication, providing coaching and training, and fostering collaborative workplace relationships.
- Comply with detail design/drafting related process improvement initiatives to achieve optimal service delivery and safety initiatives.
- Manage your own performance while actively developing technical expertise, seeking guidance from senior draftspersons and engineers when needed.
- Monitor, analyse and support the quality of design and drafting work across substation projects.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- A 2-year diploma in engineering or higher.
- At least 10 years demonstrated working knowledge and experience within substation primary, civil & structural and/or secondary detail design, drafting and standards (including Australian Standards) and tools.
- Working knowledge of engineering standards and regulations applicable to substation detail design/drafting.
- Working knowledge of specialist CAD applications applicable such as Microstation.
- Extensive working knowledge of other disciplines associated with substation design.
