Senior Community Engagement Specialist - Maximum Term - Perth CBD Office
Are you passionate about fostering strong community connections and driving impactful engagement? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Community Engagement Specialist to join our team on a 6-month fixed term basis.
In this pivotal role, you will lead community and stakeholder engagement for a diverse portfolio of Western Power’s projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the community has the opportunity to provide input into key projects and feels adequately informed about projects going into delivery.
Your Role in Action
- Plan and deliver best practice community engagement for Western Power projects.
- Advise project teams on engagement requirements, with a view to minimising impacts on the community.
- Work with external stakeholders and customers on projects and engagement activities.
- Understand Western Power’s legal and regulatory obligations related to community engagement.
- Provide advice on contentious issues and community sentiment and priorities.
- Play an active role on Western Power’s emergency management team, which may include community recovery activities.
- Organise and attend community engagement events and regional shows as required.
- Upskill internal stakeholders on Western Power’s approach to community engagement and act as an internal advocate for community views to influence decision.
- As required, report on input on all project communications and engagement status, including progress milestones and final reporting.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering complex community engagement campaigns end-to-end, ideally in a project environment.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic stakeholder relationship management, with a proven ability to build strong partnerships, communicate complex information effectively, and proactively manage community and project-related interactions.
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects – including time, scope, deliverables, budget, resources and competing deadlines – to a high standard.
- Qualifications in, or demonstrated understanding and application of, IAP2 principles.
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Social Planning and Sciences, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with strong emotional intelligence.
- Experience in the government or energy sectors would be highly regarded.
