Senior Civil Structural Engineer – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD
Shape the future of Western Power’s Major Customer decarbonisation projects by joining our Engineering & Design as a Senior Civil Structural Engineer.
In this position, you’ll apply your civil and structural expertise to support the design, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the facilities that house our transmission, distribution, and communication assets. You'll also lead technical reviews and provide strategic input into the renewal and upkeep of critical buildings and facility infrastructure across our operational sites.
Your Role in Action
- Provide specialist advice on structural integrity across buildings, grounds, and fencing at Distribution, Transmission and Communication sites
- Identify optimal solutions through investigation, condition monitoring, and strategic innovation
- Define inspection methodologies and coordinate resources for condition assessments
- Develop and oversee scopes of work for maintenance and asset replacement programs
- Translate facility asset strategies into practical, prioritised implementation plans
- Lead the development and embedding of processes that support sustainable infrastructure programs
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align on long-term strategic goals
- Ensure corrective works are actioned within timeframes aligned to asset risk
- Build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Property, Fleet, Substation Maintenance, and Network Planning & Delivery teams
- Promote a shared understanding of structural integrity standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., asbestos regulations)
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across structural engineering practices
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices through active professional networking
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Degree qualified in engineering within the relevant civil and structural discipline
- Eligible for chartered membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia
- At least 10+ years extensive and relevant experience and knowledge in a civil and/or structural engineering role
- Extensive, demonstrable knowledge of, and technical experience and leadership in a civil and/or structural related field
- Demonstrable and extensive knowledge of civil/structural construction and fabrication practices relevant to, preferably, substation assets across both distribution and transmission assets
- Demonstrable and extensive knowledge of civil/structural practices and regulations
- Good communication skills and customer focus with the ability to influence outcomes and or effect change when required
