Senior Assurance Specialist – Permanent – Perth CBD
The primary purpose of this position is to support and provide independent and objective risk assurance and audit services designed to add value and improve Western Power’s operations, legislative and regulatory compliance and stakeholders’ objectives.
To develop and deliver the relevant Functional audit and assurance programmes to assess compliance with legal obligations imposed on Western Power and compliance with relevant functional management processes and systems.
Your Role in Action
- Develop and agree audit specifications and protocols with stakeholder consultation to meet the aims and objectives in line with the Western Power audit standard.
- Conduct the audit/assurance programme via inspections, observations, and re-performance of controls, seeking appropriate evidence to assess compliance with the stated aims and objectives.
- Investigate non-conformances or anomalies identified during assurance checks, seeking clarification and escalating issues as needed.
- Develop the audit/assurance reports with any agreed conclusions and SMART recommendations in conjunction with stakeholders.
- Ensure suitable tracking and governance of actions to meet the timeframes in recommendations including the closing out of audits.
- Maintenance of relevant functional assurance records as required by the Western Power management systems
- Identify and manage existing or potential compliance breaches or management system non-conformances, which introduce or sustain an unacceptable business risk and support the business in monitoring and managing potential prosecutions.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying trends and recurring issues, contributing to proactive risk mitigation, and the development of key compliance indicators and dashboards.
- Promote awareness of assurance procedures and assist in onboarding new staff regarding assurance protocols.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in related discipline, Diploma in Quality Management etc
- Professional Lead Auditor status in OHS, Environment or Quality.
- Extensive knowledge and industry experience relevant to the business unit.
- 7+ years extensive demonstrated experience in incorporating best practice into audit processes in large organisations.
- Extensive current knowledge and understanding of state and federal legislation.
- Knowledge of relevant area of assurance requirements and associated systems, and any inherent or potential risks associated with these.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively to reach agreed outcomes.
