Senior Asset Planning Engineer - 12 month maximum term / Perth CBD Office

 

Accountable for interpreting and applying best practice operational asset management principles and developing treatment rules to deliver optimal life cycle performance of selected network assets. This includes the application of maintenance standards, condition and life assessment, operation requirements, delivery as well as risk mitigation strategies.

 

This role is for a 12-month maximum term.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Assess and identify asset risks and determine related treatments for asset conditions as per operation requirement, asset management strategies and construction standards and drive repair or replacement, within agreed timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain asset treatment practices and processes by factoring safety, delivery, asset management strategies, work practices and standards keeping in mind future network requirements and upgrades including SPS, UPP and microgrids.
  • Establish and communicate clearly identified planned work priorities and targets, coordinate and direct delivery of the work program across all planned work types and specific assets to be replaced, reinforced or maintained as part of the 2-year horizon operational works plan.
  • Drive high value asset failure investigation, at site as well as in-house workshop, and explore the possibilities to repair, refurbish and re-use after necessary testing.
  • Monitor performance against planned work priorities in terms of expenditure, scope and volume achievement to ensure the target outcomes in network performance are achieved within cost and time constraints.
  • Financial analysis of Regulatory Category expenditure to ensure compliance with agreed budgetary arrangement and optimizing asset treatments.
  • Ensure that all significant variations, outside tolerances agreed with delivery channels, project management and asset performance, are rigorously assessed from a thorough value-for-money business perspective before agreeing to revised work program targets and performance outcomes.
  • Provision of accurate and timely progress updates to the Planning and Analysis section by work driver, program and Regulatory Category levels.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering and significant industry experience are essential.
  • Extensive, solid, and minimum of 7 years demonstrated experience in electrical field with possible exposure to utility environment and operational asset maintenance.
  • Demonstrated track-record of combining comprehensive technical skills with exposure to risk management and governance processes.
  • Demonstrable and significant experience of programming of work in the electricity, gas or water industries (regulated environment) with internal and external works provision.
  • Demonstrable and significant experience in program management and the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong working relationships at all levels of an organization, superior communication and interpersonal skills, complimented by highly developed influencing skills.
  • Ability to relate tasks to the "big picture" and communicate accordingly.
  • Network operation, asset management and design side experience along with exposure to electrical construction requirements.
