Principal Project Delivery Consultant – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD
Play a critical role in Western Power’s Clean Energy Link program, shaping the delivery of once‑in‑a‑generation infrastructure that underpins Western Australia’s energy transition. This is a high‑impact, senior principal‑level role for a commercially astute project delivery specialist who will represent Western Power in complex, high‑value negotiations and provide trusted technical and project leadership across large‑scale infrastructure projects.
You will be accountable for shaping and driving the success of major programs and projects—from early scoping and development through to delivery readiness—working across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to influence outcomes and ensure alignment with strategic, commercial and technical objectives.
Your Role in Action
- Develop strategic project/program objectives and project scope, establish strong, collaborative, cross-functional project teams, and governance structures, establish budget and resources and project manage from inception to approval.
- Lead, coordinate and manage Western Power infrastructure projects to conclusion on time, within budget and in line with quality standards.
- Ensure that program/project activities operate in line with internal policies, frameworks and procedures.
- Ensure that program/project activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Determine business information requirements and manage internal relationships to provide the necessary project support.
- Ensure that the program/projects operate within the approved budget while taking appropriate mitigating or corrective actions where required.
- Monitor and control all budgeted program/project expenditures in line with set out constraints.
- Deliver infrastructure projects which are aligned to Western Power’s zero harm standards.
- Successful risk management against regulatory, commercial, reputational, legal, financial (within delegated authority) and safety risks, ensuring full visibility to senior leadership.
- Manage assigned projects and workstreams within the Clean Energy Link program in accordance with approved scope, schedule and budget.
- Drive successful, timely project delivery aligned to agreed outcomes through high quality definition, structured transition to execution, and proactive identification and mitigation of schedule, cost, and quality risks.
- Lead the development of the project capital expenditure (CAPEX) during the pre‑execution phase, ensuring robust cost estimation, and oversee the end‑to‑end process to secure timely funding approval.
- Plan and ensure proactive stakeholder engagement and communication with government, industry proponents, landowners, technical experts and internal leadership.
- Drive efficient transition of scoped and planned CEL projects to execution with minimal business impact and complete knowledge transfer.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering (preferred), Business Management, Economics, Project Management or Finance.
- A seasoned professional with broad and or deep range of knowledge and expertise gained through comprehensive experience 15+ years in senior program/project management roles.
- Significant experience in managing large scale complex projects or programs of concurrent projects with multiple workstreams.
- Experienced in managing major customer accounts where reputational impact is significant.
- Experienced in complex commercial and tender negotiations of significant value contracts, $250+ million for CEL.
- Comprehensive negotiation and relationship building skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation including C Suite.
- Ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve win-win outcomes.
- Ability to lead and influence project stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
- Ability to condense multiple information streams to make informed project decisions.
- Proven technical leadership and team building skills when managing large and complex programs and projects.
- Strategic perspective, strong analytical and business acumen capability, ability to think conceptually and ability to apply business context to when generating solutions.
