We have a new permanent opportunity for a Principal Engagement Specialist within our Community and Stakeholders team to help lead Western Power’s approach to stakeholder and major customer engagement across the Southwest Interconnected System.
You’ll design, implement and embed Western Power’s stakeholder engagement strategy, building the systems and processes that drive consistent, high‑impact engagement and embed initiatives that simplify experiences, strengthen partnerships and help our stakeholders thrive in an evolving energy landscape.
Your Role in Action
- Shape enterprise‑wide engagement at scale by leading Western Power’s stakeholder engagement strategy and continuously evolving it to reflect major projects, investments, risks and impacts.
- Anticipate and respond to change by monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and adapting engagement approaches to protect outcomes and reputation.
- Set the standard for strategic, consistent engagement across the organisation, aligning cross‑functional teams to shared frameworks, governance and best‑practice ways of working.
- Influence better decisions by ensuring stakeholder and major customer impacts, insights and risks are identified early and meaningfully considered in business planning and delivery.
- Drive insight‑led engagement through the design and leadership of enterprise reporting and analytics that surface sentiment, emerging issues, industry trends and performance.
- Provide trusted strategic counsel to senior leaders on complex and high‑risk engagement matters, identifying opportunities to build alignment and mitigate risk.
- Build capability and confidence across the business by mentoring relationship managers and equipping teams with practical tools, guidance and modern engagement platforms.
- Lead with integrity and collaboration, fostering strong internal and external relationships while modelling Western Power’s values, professionalism and accountability in every interaction.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Deep experience navigating complex stakeholder environments, with a strong track record engaging internal and external stakeholders within regulated or multi‑layered organisations.
- Proven ability to shape and deliver enterprise‑wide engagement strategies, including the systems, processes and governance that support consistent, effective outcomes.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability, with demonstrated experience managing risk, applying sound governance and solving complex problems.
- Experience embedding frameworks that enhance stakeholder experience and relationship management, driving meaningful, organisation‑wide improvement.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise change, including the implementation of new frameworks, systems and ways of working.
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Communications, Business, Economics, Project or related discipline; IAP2 certification highly regarded.
