Engineering Team Leader (Distribution Strategy and Standards) – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD

 

Shape the strategy behind WA’s future network.

 

As part of our Grid Transformation team, we are looking for a visionary and technically strong Engineering Team Leader to take charge of short to medium-term network strategy and planning.

 

With responsibility for developing the 10-year Network Development Plan, you will lead a specialist team in identifying future network needs, building robust Issue briefing papers, works planning reports and business cases, and delivering smart, sustainable investment strategies. This role is key to supporting Western Power’s long-term energy transformation goals.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Perform forecast & network requirements
  • Develop businesses plans
  • Develop and maintain a detailed short to medium term (up to 10 years) Network Development Plan in line with the Network Management Plan taking into account both Asset, Growth, Reliability, Power Quality drivers in a localised geographical area.
  • Deliver timely and robust investment decisions underpinned by strong technical justifications.
  • Deliver timely, accessible and accurate planning advice to key stakeholders.
  • Lead the annual development of the network development plan and ensure its alignment to the 50 year outlook, , the network investment strategy and asset strategies that permit the network expansion to proceed in a coordinated manner with due consideration to planning criteria, operational constraints, funding, resource availability, and external works such as new load and generation connections
  • Effectively lead and manage the distribution planning teams.
  • Ensures alignment between technical needs and economic and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop concept solutions (network and non-network) to resolve the constraint in a timely and economically manner.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Degree qualification in Engineering (Electrical)
  • Eligibility to CPEng status by Engineers Australia
  • Highly developed written, verbal and presentation communications skills
  • Extensive understanding of network utility regulation and the requirements this places on justification and development of transmission & distribution projects
  • Proven track record of effective management and leadership of high profile planning teams
  • Proven track record of delivering robust transmission/distribution plans and project justifications
  • Knowledge of regulatory process, arrangements and legislation, as well as Market and Technical rules.
