Customer Project Development Team Leader - Permanent Full Time / Perth CBD Office

 

Western Power is seeking a highly motivated Customer Project Development Team Leader to join our team based in the Perth CBD.

 

As part of our Major Customer Decarbonisation function, you’ll lead a team to deliver technical solutions and investment proposals for large-scale grid connections and line relocations. Working at the forefront of Western Australia’s transforming energy landscape, you will help accelerate integration of clean energy projects into the grid and support the development of major infrastructure upgrades for the benefit of the Western Australian community.

 

This leadership role is critical to ensuring that project outcomes meet customer expectations while aligning with commercial, financial, regulatory and technical requirements.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Support the development and execution of large-scale customer connection projects, overseeing the full lifecycle from initial enquiry to final implementation.
  • Cultivate a high-performance, customer-centric culture within a multidisciplinary team, driving robust investment decisions through sound commercial judgment and effective risk management.
  • Lead with technical and commercial acumen, guiding engineers and business specialists to develop innovative customer proposals and strategic insights that enhance service outcomes
  • Inspire excellence by mentoring talent, building technical capability, and driving proactive performance management to support both behavioural and professional growth.
  • Role-model behaviours consistent with core business values, reinforcing a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external business partners to support cohesive project planning and seamless execution.
  • Lead timely escalation and resolution of risks and issues, maintaining alignment with organisational objectives and customer expectations.
  • Champion portfolio planning and data integrity across enterprise systems, enabling transparent reporting and informed decision-making through well-defined standards and governance.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in complex, regulated environments—ideally with 5+ years in the electricity industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commercial, or Business, with leadership credentials (e.g. Cert IV or higher in Management).
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess investment risk and develop fit-for-purpose mitigation strategies.
  • Proven experience leading high-performing teams delivering complex technical and commercial outcomes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and investment frameworks relevant to electricity infrastructure projects.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a track record of driving alignment across diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and develop others while fostering a high-performance culture.
