We are seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to deliver proactive, bestpractice community and stakeholder engagement to support the expansion of Western Power’s transmission network. In this role, you will develop and implement effective engagement strategies that build strong relationships with customers, communities, and key stakeholders.
You will support the scoping, planning and execution of Western Power transmission infrastructure projects within the Clean Energy Link program.. By fostering clear communication and meaningful engagement, you will help communities understand upcoming infrastructure works, contributing to positive outcomes for all parties.
This role plays a critical part in reducing project risk and enhancing trust by ensuring stakeholders are informed, heard, and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
Your Role in Action
Deliver community engagement activities for Clean Energy Link infrastructure projects, implementing engagement plans developed by senior leaders and communications teams
Build and maintain positive relationships with local residents, landholders, community groups, local government representatives, and project partners
Coordinate and attend community engagement activities including information sessions, dropin events, site visits, popups, stalls, and online engagement
Provide clear, accessible information to communities about project timelines, impacts, and benefits using approved messaging and materials
Support the preparation and distribution of engagement materials such as project webpages, FAQs, newsletters, briefing packs, advertising, and event materials
Respond to community enquiries and complaints, escalating complex or highrisk issues to the appropriate internal specialists
Undertake stakeholder mapping and community profiling to support effective engagement delivery
Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions, commitments, and issues in stakeholder management systems
Capture community feedback, sentiment, and emerging issues, and provide postengagement reporting to project teams and leadership
Collaborate closely with project managers, communications, environment, planning, and technical teams to ensure community impacts and commitments are understood and delivered
What Makes You a Great Fit
Tertiary qualification in Communications, Social Planning and Sciences, Marketing, or related discipline preferred, or extensive demonstrated experience in communication, community engagement, stakeholder management or a related field
Experience in communication, community engagement, stakeholder management or a related field
Experience in the development of communication tools including, but not limited to, reports, promotional material, speeches, and publications associated with business objectives
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills to effectively manage all levels of internal and external stakeholders
Ability to prioritise work and critically assess own performance
Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet strict deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
