Community Engagement Coordinator – Permanent Full Time

 

Western Power is preparing the electricity network to support industry and the community as WA progresses towards net zero emissions by 2050.  A critical step in achieving this is transforming the existing network to support large-scale renewable energy generation needed to enable this extraordinary transition.  

 

As we grow a dedicated team to achieve these outcomes, we’re on the lookout for a Community Engagement Coordinator to help us engage with communities in a meaningful way by supporting a team of dedicated Engagement Specialists across the program. Your customer-centric approach, attention to detail and commitment to social performance will support the delivery of some of Western Power’s key infrastructure projects.  

 

Your Role in Action  

 

As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will be responsible for a range of administrative and coordination activities across the Clean Energy Link program of work. From records management, to event coordination, our coordinator will ensure that our community engagement activities are executed to a high standard and deliver outcomes for the team, the projects and the communities and stakeholders impacted.   

 

This position is critical in the provision of practical support for stakeholder and community engagement processes, which will ultimately enhance stakeholder understanding and engagement regarding Western Power’s new infrastructure and maintenance projects.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Establish, develop and maintain sound working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to sustainability assessment and community engagement objectives by supporting processes, which include:
    • Organising events.
    • Developing communication material including, but not limited to, bulletins, reports, promotion material, speeches, newsletters and other publications associated with business objectives.
    • Providing administration assistance, as required.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of end project evaluations to assess levels of community and stakeholder awareness of projects and build learnings into future project activities.
  • Participate in and contribute to the evaluation of the frequency, style and effectiveness of sustainability assessment and community engagement approaches used during infrastructure development and asset maintenance projects.
  • Complete other projects and assignments, as required.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or related discipline
  • At least 3+ years’ experience with event coordination, organisation and management
  • Experience with the development of communication material including, but not limited to, bulletins, reports, promotion material, speeches, newsletters and other publications associated with business objectives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise work and critically assess own performance
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to identify, manage and escalate risks and issues, specific to the position
