Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your expertise in asset management to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our network at Western Power? Join our Asset Performance team and play a pivotal role in an exciting project that shapes the future of our network assets. In this position, you will be accountable for developing and implementing best practice operational asset management principles and long-term strategies to ensure optimal life cycle performance of our network assets. 

 

 

Your Role in Action   

 

As the Asset Engineer, you will be accountable for developing and applying best practice asset management strategies to deliver optimal life cycle performance of distribution assets on nominated traditional and renewable energy asset classes. This includes the development and application of maintenance procedures, condition and life assessment and risk mitigation strategies, technical problem solving and the preparation of work plans to support the Senior Asset Engineer. 

• Support implementation of asset management strategies over asset life cycle  

• Assess and manage asset risks and regulatory obligations. 

• Monitoring & reporting on asset condition and performance  

• Support development of effective and efficient asset investment programs  

• Provide optimal technical solutions, technical support and problem solving on the distribution assets including Stand-alone Power Systems (SPS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Micro-grids. 

• Support to the Senior Asset Engineer to change effectively, including the implementation and integration of new assets and technologies to effectively operate and maintain (O&M) assets.  

• Prepare and update comprehensive documentation for integration and system change/configuration. 

• Undertake asset incident and incident trending analysis and investigations.  

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. 

• Take personal accountability for safety in the work environment. Ensure safe work practices are followed. 

 

 

What Makes You a Great Fit  

 

  • Degree in electrical engineering  

  • Eligibility for chartered membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia 

  • Sound knowledge of engineering standards and regulations applicable to transmission assets. 

  • Strong and demonstrated technical experience in a Networks business especially transmission maintenance. 

  • Demonstrated ability in applying continuous improvement methodologies
