Terrace Road Street Lights

“Western Power will start site work on 9 July, on the second section of a $200,000 upgrade project for the underground network for street lights along Terrace Road in East Perth.

“The replacement and upgrading of the lights’ 40 year old underground cabling, which will fix the current faults and prevent ongoing issues with the remaining 21 street lights on Terrace Road.

“Excavations for the new cable needs careful planning because of the heavy congestion of existing underground services including high pressure gas, low and high voltage power cables, NBN services and Water Corp infrastructure.

“Western Power teams have worked to deliver this project, which upgrades the original design to comply with modern standards that deliver better performance and reliability.

“Design upgrades mean we can energise individual street lights as we complete work, instead of having to wait for the whole project to be finished. It also allows the circuit to be divided into sections to prevent large outages for cable faults.

“We recognise the frustration that this project is causing some local residents, and we apologise for the delays as we undertake a complex upgrade to the area’s lighting network.

“We are working to improve the notification process to residents across our network, especially when we need to undertake more complex lighting faults work.
