SWIS hit by storm

Release Date: 07 August 2006

Western Power crews have restored power to more than 3000 properties east of Perth and in the south west after a line of thunderstorms crossed the coast at 1:30am today.

Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible in difficult conditions.

About 1200 properties in Australind lost power. Power has been restored to about 800 properties and most of the remaining properties should have power restored by 6pm today.

Further south, about 600 properties in Nannup and surrounding areas lost power as the storm brought down powerlines. Power has been restored to most of the affected properties.

In the hills east of Perth, more than 2000 properties lost power in Helena Valley, Boya, Greenmount, Swan View, Bellevue and Darlington.  Our crews have restored power to 99 per cent of those affected.
