Western Power has been working with the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River to plan an upgrade to the feeder line between Karridale and Augusta in late 2023 to early 2024. The upgrade is focused on improving network reliability, maintaining high standards of safety and enhancing network resilience to major weather events.

We’ll be replacing approximately 70 poles, 12km of overhead power lines, upgrading insulators and crossarms, and carrying out other essential maintenance within the area.

How this work may affect you

The work needs to be carried out on de-energised lines in order to ensure safety of residents and workers therefore power outages will be required in Augusta, Karridale and surrounds. You’ll receive notification of any required outage in advance. Please check your notification carefully as you may experience more than one outage.

Please note that the large-scale generator was relocated from Augusta in February, meaning you may receive by full duration outages while we carry out this work (typically 7am to 5pm).

  • Customers will be notified a minimum of three business days (but typically up to 9 business days) prior to an outage that interrupts power supply. These notifications are sent to the primary account holder only. Please forward to anyone else who may be impacted by the planned outage, i.e. tenants.

  • While work is being completed you may notice more heavy vehicles in your area. Traffic management will be used where needed and we’ll contact you if we need to access your property.

  • Our teams will notify if access is needed to an individual’s property.

We understand that the planned work may cause some short-term inconvenience, but we expect that these upgrades will enhance network safety and help with power reliability in the town.
