Community comments on tariffs

We formally responded to the Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) with a proposal for a new reference service and tariff for customers that connect to the electricity network with small scale renewable energy systems. The ERA will assess our proposal against the Electricity Networks Access Code 2004 and make a decision as to whether the proposed new reference service and tariff can be included in our Access Arrangement.

Western Power's submission to the ERA is publically available on the ERA website.

The role of the network tariff

A network tariff is the charging mechanism by which we charge generators and retailer for access to our electricity network. We do not charge end users a network tariff.

Public Consultation (now closed)

We invited the public and interested parties to comment on its proposed changes to network tariffs for customers that connect to the network with small scale renewable energy systems.

As part of its commitment to creating a sustainable network, we are creating a new reference service and tariff and ensuring these services are compatible with the Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme. The documents below define the scope of the proposed service and tariff for homes that feed energy into the network from renewable sources.

We requested feedback and comments from the public and interested parties prior to making a formal submission to the Economic Regulation Authority to ensure that the reference service and reference tariff meets the needs of users and applicants.

Responses were requested on four areas:

  1. whether the proposed reference service meets the requirements of users
  2. feedback on the proposed reference tariff structure
  3. feedback  on the proposed on peak, off peak and shoulder times for the reference tariff
  4. whether the proposed reference service and reference tariff are compatible with the Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme

Reports
