Safety outside

If your home has 240 volts of electricity going to it, think how much electricity the power network is carrying outside:

  • A power pole with wires carries 11,000 or 22,000 volts!
  • Distribution poles with wires leading to your house carry 240 or 415 volts!
  • Steel transmission towers carry 132,000, 220,000 or 330,000 volts!
  • Substations carry up to 330,000 volts!

So don’t ignore safety signs!

Electricity outside is kept behind fences, or in powerlines high up in the air, or underground because it’s safer for us.
