In Australia, we use mostly coal to generate electricity. But in Western Australia we also use gas, wind farms and hydro (water) power stations to generate electricity
Using renewable energy is an important part of Australia’s effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
As well as using coal and natural gas for our own energy generation, Australia also exports these commodities to other countries. Selling coal and gas is big business in Australia. So, Australia’s use of renewable energy is still much less than its use of non-renewable energy.
