Shenton Park 132/11 kV zone substation
Zone substation expansion and distribution network upgrade

Shenton Park zone substation is presently a two-line, three-transformer 66/6.6 kV substation supplying predominantly residential and commercial customers. Much of the equipment within the Shenton Park substation is nearing the end of its functional life.
Based on the current load forecasts for Shenton Park 66/6.6 kV substation, it is anticipated that there will be a shortfall in transformer capacity at Shenton Park in 2014. Investigations indicate that the most technically and economically viable option for overcoming this capacity shortfall is the conversion of Shenton Park 66/6.6 kV substation to 132/11 kV operating voltage.
A new 132/11 kV substation will be constructed on the existing 66/6/6kV substation site as well as an area of crown reserve adjacent to the existing site. The proposed substation development has an estimated cost of $30 million. The target completion date for the Shenton Park zone substation expansion is November 2014 to meet Western Power's wider network investment strategy in the area.
The location of the proposed new 132/11 kV Shenton Park substation is the land adjacent to the existing Shenton Park substation.
To cater for the load growth in the Shenton Park area for the long term, two options have been investigated to determine the most efficient solution.
