Project update March 2012

The installation of equipment called ‘capacitor banks’ at Busselton Substation was discussed during the 28 February 2012 Busselton engagement session with interested community members. The presentation provided can be found here (PDF 3 Mb).

The project is now scheduled to go ahead as per the timelines below.

Project description

The works at the Busselton Substation involves the installation of equipment called ‘capacitor banks’ to reduce the risk of voltage dropping too low at the substation. One effect of this voltage-support strategy is it eases capacity limitations on the surrounding network for a period, delaying the need to establish new transmission lines and improves reliability of the network. All works will be contained within the existing Busselton Substation site.
