Joondalup substation
As part of its commitment to improve the quality and reliability of the power supply and to cater for the future power needs in your area, we are constructing a new zone substation in Joondalup.
The new 132,000 volt (132 kV) zone substation is located on Lot 2 Shenton Avenue, Joondalup.
The substation is required to meet the increasing demand for power as a result of growth in the City of Joondalup and increased electricity use. The substation will improve the reliability of power supply and allow for future growth in the area.
The project will include the installation of a single transformer, a portable building to house the essential substation switching equipment and other electrical equipment for the substation.
The substation will be connected to the existing Mullaloo to Wanneroo 132 kV transmission line, which traverses the substation site.
Traffic disruptions
There may be traffic delays in the area while equipment and materials are transported to the substation site. Western Power and its contractors will endeavour to minimise the disruption and safely manage traffic flow in the area.
