Rivervale to Queens Park transmission line
To meet the growing demand for electricity, Western Power needs to upgrade transmission lines in Rivervale, Lathlain and Queens Park. The transmission lines are the lines which transport high-voltage electricity. This upgrade will boost the capacity of the electricity network and will improve the quality and reliability of electricity in the area.
As part of this project, Western Power will also carry out work on the overhead electrical supply (distribution lines) to properties in the area. This will involve removing the overhead lines that connect to your property and installing underground power in Midgeley Street, Gallipoli Street, Custance Street and Rayment Street.
This work will improve the overall appearance of the streets. The benefits of placing the power lines underground also include:
- reducing the incidence of power disruption by trees or birds, or by oversize vehicles pulling lines down;
- no need for tree pruning;
- increased safety in severe weather conditions; and
- improved reliability of electricity supply.
Western Power will cover the total cost of the project.
