Manning Street substation upgrade
Update – December 2011
Western Power intends to upgrade the existing 132,000 volt (132kV) Manning Street substation in Scarborough. To do this, we are currently in the process of negotiating the purchase of a 5.7 metre wide strip of land on the eastern side of the current site.
About the project
To facilitate the upgrade, Western Power is proposing to purchase a 5.7 metre wide strip of land which is directly adjacent to the eastern boundary of the substation. We are currently in negotiations with the Department of Housing to purchase part of the property located at the corner of Manning and Joyce Streets, Scarborough.
While the existing units on this property will not be directly impacted, there will be some restorative/relocation works required to modify the laundry facility, clothes lines and parking area during early 2012. Western Power will work closely with residents to ensure there are minimal disruptions.
