Morawa and Perenjori Community Energy Engagement Project
The Community Energy Engagement Project is an initiative which aims to bring together Western Power and the communities of Morawa and Perenjori. As part of Western Power’s on-going commitment to address reliability issues in Edge of Grid communities, the Community Energy Engagement Project aims to structure a long-term strategy focussed on improving reliability in both Morawa and Perenjori.
Edge of Grid Engagement
Effective community involvement requires an open dialogue between Western Power and interested members of the community as an integral part of project planning and decision-making.
To date, Western Power has worked with the Shire’s of Morawa and Perenjori, in order to understand the reliability issues further and the impact these issues have on the wider community groups of both towns. This communication will continue throughout all stages of the project and will include transparent communication with community members.
In order to encourage a high level of communication between Western Power and the community, a series of community forums are to be scheduled. The first of these sessions will occur on the 26th July in Morawa and 27th July in Perenjori. The purpose of the first community forum is to present the project outline, allow the community to ask questions and raise concerns and to form a community working group in both Morawa and Perenjori. The sessions are advertised in local papers and by the Shires of Morawa and Perenjori.
Morawa and Perenjori
Morawa and Perenjori are in the first stage of the Community Energy Engagement Project. This stage encompasses community engagement in order to reach a sustainable, long-term solution. The second stage of the project involves Western Power implementing an agreed solution which will enhance reliability for both Morawa and Perenjori.
