Community engagement
Western Power’s community engagement practices seek to involve communities in Western Power decision making processes so that the most positive sustainable outcomes can be found for network improvement projects such as new powerlines and substations for the community.
Western Power engages with the community to gain valuable input, ideas and feedback on distribution and transmission lines and substation projects, plus future projects and planning options.
Additionally, environmental impact studies are undertaken and advice is sought from the Department of Environment and other agencies to ensure adequate environmental considerations are taken into account for the design, construction and operation of each project.
Environmental management plans are prepared to address environmental issues, and agency and community issues. The plans include environmental objectives and targets, project management actions, a timeframe for completion, and identify who will undertake the work.
