Planned interruptions
Sometimes it is necessary for Western Power to interrupt power so we can safely carry out maintenance work or upgrade the network. More information
Safety first
- Never touch electrical wiring or any switch that looks burnt or deteriorated. If in doubt contact a licensed electrician
- Always assume fallen powerlines are live - don't approach them
If your power is out
- Check the meter box - has a circuit breaker or safety switch tripped or a fuse blown? If yes, reset the switches or replace the fuse wire.
- If the meter box is okay, look outside to see if any neighbours or streetlights are also affected.
- If so, ring 13 13 51 to report the interruption. If we are already aware of the fault, you will hear an estimated restoration time.
Help us find the problem
- We can find the problem more quickly if you can give us your meter number (on your last bill).
- If you are in the country you may be asked for the number of your transformer pole (if you have one) or other poles on your land.
Using the phone
Use a standard landline phone or mobile. Cordless phones do not work without electricity.
When you call using a landline, our system will identify the postcode you're calling from and provide you with fault information relevant to that area. If calling from a mobile phone you will be asked to enter the 4 digit postcode of the area you are enquiring about.
