Compensation for damage

If you have experienced loss or damage because of a power interruption or surge, you can make a claim.  We investigate every claim to determine the cause of the interruption or surge.

Western Power will only compensate customers for loss or damage if it is the result of our negligence. If the damage was the result of factors outside our control, we cannot pay any compensation.

Before completing a claim form, please read the frequently asked questions as this will help you complete the claims form and understand the claims process.

How to claim

To lodge a claim, please complete the Customer Damage Report form (PDF 100kb).

If you have experienced a long power interruption (for 12 consecutive hours or longer) you may also be eligible for an $80 compensation payment.
