Power quality

Quality problems occur when there are variations or fluctuations in the power supply.  Power doesn't go out altogether, but lights may dim and appliances may work intermittently or burn out.

If this is happening, please report the problem to us so we can carry out a power quality investigation.  This may involve putting a monitor on your power supply for a few days to record voltage levels.

Fact sheets

More information about the reliability and quality of your electricity supply is available in the following documents:

Television & radio interference

Interference with your television or radio reception can be caused by:

  • appliances and equipment in your own home or on a neighbouring property
  • the antenna, if it is inadequate or in poor condition
  • the electricity network near you.

What to do:

  1. Make sure you have a suitable antenna and that the antenna and your receiver are in good condition.  For television, you should have an outdoor / rooftop antenna.
  2. Check that no appliances in your home are causing the problem.
  3. If you still suspect the problem is caused by the electricity supply system, you can arrange an investigation.  If you haven't already contacted your electricity retailer, report the problem to us.

For more information about television and radio interference, visit the Australian Communications and Media Authority website.
