Becoming a supplier

Western Power has a system of accreditation for all its service suppliers.  This system means we can place purchase orders with your company quickly and easily, as required.  It also means if you are submitting for a contract or tender, we already have your insurance details on file.

Our System Entry Level Accreditation covers four areas:

To become an accredited supplier, you need to provide documents or take action in relation to each of these areas.  Your accreditation will be achieved once we have received all the necessary documents and validated and processed the information you give us.

For a complete list of the documents we need, please see the checklist of documents to be provided.

If you have any questions please telephone 9326 1030.

Business and commercial details

You need to supply the following details to an authorised Western Power employee.  In most cases this will be the person who has contacted you about providing services.

  • the name and contact details of your business
  • your company registration details
  • information about your GST registration
  • your bank account details on your company letterhead, so we can make payments electronically

Insurance

All accredited suppliers need insurance cover for the following:

  • workers’ compensation insurance, including cover for directors, officers and principals
  • public and product liability insurance
  • insurance for any motor vehicles used in carrying out the services (including third party, personal injury and property damage insurance)
  • employer’s liability insurance (applicable in the Eastern States only)

Each insurance cover must be equal to or greater than the minimum listed for each policy type on the Insurance Schedule (PDF 18kb). We suggest you download this document as it will become part of your accreditation package.

Western Power requires the policies to be extended to include principal’s indemnity.  This means Western Power is to be noted on each insurance policy.

Please note that this information needs to be updated annually, on or before the date each policy expires.

How to complete the Insurance Schedule

The Insurance Schedule can be completed in one of two ways.  Either:

  • your insurance provider or broker can complete and sign the Insurance Schedule or
  • you can obtain certificates of currency for each type of insurance from your provider/broker, and complete and sign the insurance schedule yourself
