Recipient in Charge training

Electrical Access Permits (EAP) and Vicinity Authorities (VA)

As part of improvements to managing access to the electricity network, including revising network access (NA) policy and procedures, Power Training Services WA has developed two new Recipient in Charge (RIC) training courses for people requiring Network Access Authorisation as a RIC for Electrical Access Permits and/or Vicinity Authorities.

The courses provide participants with knowledge about the roles and responsibilities of a Recipient in Charge (RIC) and include information about:

  • the RIC relationships with other key personnel who use Western Power's Permit To Work (PTW) procedures
  • responsibilities of the RIC that are common to all work permits
  • additional responsibilities of the RIC that are unique to specific work permits
  • the layout and content of work permits
  • PTW procedures
  • on-site considerations, including earthing requirements and step and touch potentials
  • classroom activities designed to raise the RIC's awareness of the working environment
  • responsibilities of RICs towards their work party

Note: RIC courses do not provide specific technical/practical information on how to perform the work stated on a work permit.

Courses

  • Existing RICs applying for Network Access Authorisation RIC for Electrical Access Permits and Vicinity Authorities (NA3D AND NA3T) - to attend PTS 077E - RIC for Work Permits
  • New RICS (Work Permits) applying for Network Access Authorisation RIC for Electrical Access Permits and Vicinity Authorities (NA3D AND NA3T) - to attend PTS 077E - RIC for Work Permits
