Existing RICs

Existing RICs applying for the Network Access Authorisation:

  • NA3D and/or NA3T - RIC of Electrical Access Permits and Vicinity Authorities must attend the training course PTS 077E - RIC for Work Permits.
  • NA3V - RIC of Vicinity Authorities must attend the training course PTS 077V - RIC for Vicinity Authorities.

Prerequisites

PTS 077E - RIC for Work Permits

To attend the training course a person must be nominated by their supervisor and must have:

  • electrical knowledge and be an electrical tradesperson or equivalent or powerline worker or equivalent; or a minimum of AQF Certificate III TAFE or university qualification in an electrical discipline or equivalent and
  • their supervisor declare on the course nomination form that the person has been the RIC or Issuing Officer for a minimum of ten EAPs
  • experience on Western Power's network
  • a positive attitude to safety and responsibility


PTS 077V - RIC for Vicinity Authorities

To attend the training course a person must be nominated by their supervisor and must have:

  • their supervisor declare on the course nomination form that the candidate has been a RIC on a minimum of five VAs 
  • experience on Western Power's network
  • a positive attitude to safety and responsibility

Please note: People who have been performing the role of a RIC will have a six-month transition period (until February 2009) to complete the training course and obtain authorisation. After this time, they will be considered to be a new RIC and will be required to complete the on-the-job activities after completing the training course.

As an existing RIC, the course participant will not be required to complete the on-the-job activities following the training course

How to obtain authorisation

  1. Complete a a course nomination to attend PTS 077E - RIC for Work Permits training  (PDF 47kb) or a course nomination to attend PTS 077V - RIC for Vicinity Authorities course (PDF 46kb)
  2. Attend course PTS 077E or PTS 077V
  3. Successfully complete the course theory assessment
  4. On successful completion of the course participants will be issued the relevant Network Access Authorisation Card by PTS.
