Sustainability Principles have been developed with input from government, industry and specialist groups. It is intended that the sustainability principals guide the entire project from the early corridor selection phase construction of the line.
After the corridor options were chosen, the overarching Sustainability Principles were reviewed to see whether they could be used as a basis for assessing one corridor option against another.
Community input on the sustainability principles was sought at community workshops held
in late February / early March 2007.
Those sustainability principles which help to differentiate between the various corridor options and which were included on community workshop rating forms, are referred to as 'Assessment Sustainability Principles'.
The sustainability principles which apply to other stages of the project such as the construction or operational stages, but do not help to differentiate between the corridor options are referred to as ‘Non-Assessment Sustainability Principles’.
