Community workshops

Community workshops Community members were invited to attend a series of workshops held in Moonyoonooka (28 February 2007), Dongara (1 March 2007) and Eneabba (2 March 2007). The workshops were advertised through local media outlets, and invitation letters were sent to landowners and residents within 2.5km on either side of each 1 km wide corridor option. 12,000 invitations were distributed throughout the region.

The focus of the workshops was to ascertain the following:

the values placed on the project sustainability principles by community members
areas which should be avoided or where further discussion was necessary, as marked up on detailed maps by workshop participants.

Community workshops Following the workshops, the comments from participants were analysed using the GIS mapping tool to refine which corridor options should be considered in the sustainability assessment in Phase 6.
