Draft corridor options

In August 2007, Western Power and Strategen held a series of community information sessions for the Chapman - Northampton transmission line project.

Over 120 stakeholders including local community members, representatives from local shires and interest groups attended information sessions held in Drummond Cove and Northampton.

The information sessions focussed on two key activities:

Sustainability principles:

A number of sustainability principles were tabled at the sessions and participants were asked to indicate how important each principle was to them.

According to feedback the most important principles were:

  • Minimising visual amenity impacts;
  • Reducing the number of landowners affected;
  • Avoiding existing structures;
  • Reducing impacts on the developed landscape and the local character of the area; and
  • Reducing erosion (land and river bank).

Mapping

Participants viewed detailed maps of the study area and were encouraged to map key constraints and opportunities in the area.

In the time since the information sessions, Strategen have been working hard to collate a large amount of feedback from stakeholders and community members.

This feedback, along with detailed background research has resulted in draft corridor options (PDF 82kb).

These are draft options only and may change as a result of the community workshops in October 2007. Remove the following sentence... Stakeholders and community members still have several opportunities to provide input into the refinement of these options particularly at the community workshops in October.
