Western Power is currently finalising works to upgrade the 132,000 volt (132 kV) transmission line in Lathlain, Carlisle, Welshpool and Queens Park.
To meet the growing demand for electricity, Western Power is upgrading the transmission line in Lathlain, Carlisle, Welshpool and Queens Park. This upgrade will increase the capacity of the electricity network and will improve the reliability of power supply in your area.
Elements of the project include:
Transmission lines transport high voltage electricity from generation stations to substations, where power is reduced to lower voltages for distribution to homes and businesses.
In preparation for the transmission line upgrade, Western Power has carried out work on the distribution line that traverses along a section of the transmission line route.
Construction and installation of the transmission line has been completed and was energized in December 2007.
Works to finalise the project are expected to be completed mid 2009.
