Chapman to Northampton transmission line

In order to meet the growing demand for electricity in the Northampton and Kalbarri areas, Western Power is proposing to construct a 132, 000 volt (132kV) transmission line between Chapman substation and a proposed substation in Northampton.

Western Power's overall aim for this project is to select a transmission line corridor that will be accepted by the local community, Western Power and other stakeholders as the best overall social, environmental, technical and economic option available.

Although the substation sites are known, the location of the transmission line between the two points is yet to be determined.

Final invitation for submissions - industry and generator proponents

The submission period for the proposed Chapman-Northampton transmission line reinforcement is now open.

Increased power capacity is required to ensure reliability of the power supply to the Northampton region. Western Power encourages feedback, particularly from parties who are considering connecting into the electricity network.

Industry is invited to make submissions regarding alternative options to the proposed network upgrade. Options that Western Power has considered are included in the Invitation for Submissions document.
