The transmission line

The transmission line runs along the southern road reserve of the new extension of the Roe Highway for most of its length.

At a point close to Nicholson Road the line moves into the median strip of the highway for about 2.5 kilometres and then travels along the northern road reserve until it reaches the Kenwick Link Road where it joins an existing transmission line.

The new line provides a high-voltage connection between Western Power's two major terminal substations in the south metropolitan region - Southern Terminal substation in Bibra Lake and Cannington Terminal substation.

The chosen route minimises the impact of the line on the community and the environment while meeting the long-term requirement for extra power supplies in the Cannington Terminal substation load area.

The transmission line will cost about $23 million and is a significant investment in the long-term reliability and quality of power supplies in the area.
