Gugeri Street powerline relocation

Western Power has completed the relocation of high voltage transmission powerlines and several poles in Gugeri Street, Claremont.

The work took place to enable the construction of the retail and residential development (Claremont Village) by Multiplex. The Town of Claremont was aware of the planned work by Western Power.

Western Power finished the relocation work in July 2007.

Construction

The main work is the relocation of a section of the transmission line to the northern side of Gugeri Street near the railway line.

In addition to this, the existing timber poles in Barnfield Road between Alfred and Stirling Streets, and in Gugeri Street between Bayview Terrace and Reserve Street, are to be replaced with taller timber poles.

Seven timber transmission poles currently on the southern side of Gugeri Street between Stirling Road and the Claremont Hotel at the corner of Bayview Terrace, are to be removed.

A combination of timber and steel poles will replace these poles.

Two new steel transmission poles will be placed on the southern side of Gugeri Street including one adjacent to the hotel, and another at the Stirling Road intersection.

Another steel pole and two timber poles will be installed on the northern side of Gugeri Street, opposite the Claremont Village site.

Concrete footings for the new steel poles are already in place.

Work to erect the poles on the northern side of Gugeri Street took place between 1am and 5am, when there were no train services operating between Perth and Fremantle.

For safety reasons, our crews needed to work under floodlights and endeavoured to keep noise levels to a minimum.

Some weekend work was required to complete the project.

Power supplies were not interrupted to complete this project.
