Environmental Management System

This section describes Western Power's Environmental Management System, EMISWeb, which is an intranet-based program used to track our environmental activities and legal compliance.

Powerlines and electromagnetic fields

Western Power designs and operates all its transmission lines and facilities to comply with the guidelines for human exposure to Electromagnetic Fields as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Health & Medical Research Council of Australia.

Earth Hour 2008 is a global initiative that calls on people and organisations to turn off their lights for one hour on Saturday 29 March 2008 between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm to raise awareness of global warming.
