ShockProof!

ShockProof! your students with our in-school safety education program

Why ShockProof! your students?

Every year in Western Australia, hundreds of families are affected by the trauma from injury associated with electrical shock.

Most of these injuries are due to a lack of understanding of electrical safety.

Last year Western Power presenters visited more than 200 schools, talking to 55,000 students from kindergarten to year seven.

What you get on the day

Our ShockProof! presenters spend 25 to 45 minutes with each booked class, "ShockProofing!" your students. This is a free school program where we use role plays, posters, and real-life props to encourage active learning with:

  • up to two presenters provided on any one day or visits spread over a number of days to fit around your school program
  • presenters moving from classroom to classroom
  • each class teacher receiving a support pack reviewing key safety messages, colourful brochures and a letter to parents informing them about the ShockProof! program
  • each school library receiving a colourful safety poster reinforcing key safety messages
